Our plug sockets are 220v.

Suites are equipped with air conditioning units.

Celebrating a special occasion? Upon booking, let us know if there is a special birthday, anniversary, honeymoon or any other special event so we can assist you to celebrate this.

Check in is at 14H30 and check-out time is 11H00 on the day of your departure. Late check-out is subject to availability.

Children of all ages are allowed at both lodges. No children under 6 years will be allowed on game drives, except if a private vehicle is booked (additional cost).

The cold, dry season is from May to July (nights in particularly become extremely cold with frost in higher-lying areas). August to October brings dry, warmer weather, however, nights can still be chilly. The rainy season is traditionally from November to April, often in the form of spectacular electric storms and thundershowers.

There is a small curio shop at Rock Lodge.

Should you have any special food requests, our chefs are very flexible and would be happy to discuss your requirements.

Please bear in mind that each seasonal time change varies each year as to the day it changes, dependant on occupancy, groups, weather, etc.

Dress code is informal, bush wear. For safaris we recommend neutral coloured clothing and a warm jacket for the winter months. We have fleeces, beanies, and caps available to purchase in our curio shop.

The tap water is safe to drink but we recommend you make use of the the bottled water placed in your suite.

We unfortunately cannot exchange any foreign currency.

It is customary to leave a gratuity for staff if you are satisfied with your experience. All gratuities are entirely discretionary.

The following is provided as guideline:

Guides: from R150 – R200 per person per day

General staff: from R100 – R200 per room per day

Gratuities may be paid in cash, or included on your incidentals bill and settled by credit card on departure.

There is an exercise facility available at Rock Lodge, which comprises of basic exercise equipment, i.e., treadmills, exercise bikes and free weights. These facilities are available to guests from Mountain Lodge.

All suites have hair dryers.

A laundry service is available at an additional charge..

Transfer time from West Gate at 12h00 unless prior transfer time is arranged.

Should you require alternate transfer times – this will be done at an extra cost of R750 per trip. Travel time to the lodge is 30-40min from West Gate through the reserve.

The travel time from JHB to the Welgevonden West Gate is 3.5 – 4 hours.

There is a beautiful Spa at Rock Lodge that offers a range of treatments, including “couples” treatments. Guests at Mountain Lodge are also welcome to book appointments.

Wi-Fi is available in the main lodge.
